The second stop of our Saturday field trip session was at a
landscape architecture firm called ArchitectonicaGO. ArchitectonicaGO is in
charge of the landscape architecture of the immense project of Brickell City
Centre. Brickell City Centre is being developed by Swire Properties, a very
respected multinational real estate firm that has undertaken huge projects all
over the world. The speakers name was Giovanni, who since the beginning was in
charge of the landscaping of this project.
Brickell
City Center is a 12-acre project undergoing right smack in the middle of
Brickell, which some can argue is the most exclusive and high-end area in
Miami. This project consists of 4 towers, and a retail component with a huge
mall. This project consists of one office tower, one residential tower, one
hotel tower, and a mix use that consist of a boutique hotel and more
residential above, the developer is looking to approve up to 1000 ft of height.
As you can imagine the landscaping involved with this development is enormous,
so the amount of detail in the presentation slide was on point. This is going
to be one of the first projects that is going to include green roofs in South
Florida. ArchitectonicaGO decided to bring in more native species to bring that
undeveloped look of Miami before humans came in to destroy everything. The landscaping was beautiful, really
detailed to the tiniest thing, and did everything so gorgeous looking that I
cannot wait until this project is completed.
In this
particular project I really learned to appreciate how important landscaping can
be for the look and the feel of the project, not only is this a requirement now
days by the city, but also with out the landscaping the project would not look
as visually appealing as It looks now
